The travel section of today's New York Times has a wonderful article about tea - High Tea, Darjeeling Style.
Flying to a remote corner of India and braving the long drive into the Himalayas may seem like an awful lot of effort for a good cup of tea, but Darjeeling tea isn't simply good. It's about the best in the world, fetching record prices at auctions in Calcutta and Shanghai, and kick-starting the salivary glands of tea lovers from London to Manhattan.

I have been to Darjeeling -- the drive isn't something to brave, it's a great joy to climb into the mountains! I had lovely tea at a popular tea house and was directed by a local to "the best tea shop" where I purchased lovely tea to bring home. Plus driving through tea plantations is a lovely, lovely sight -- not quite as lovely as Katchenjenga [3rd tallest in the world] and her big brother looking over her shoulder, Everest. Yes, it's enchanting and there are several books about that part of the world to read while sipping the tea if you can tear yourself away from the local sites.
I don't think it is possible not to make an effort for really good tea! You'd be crazy not to! :)
