I just cataloged this book : The Richness of Life by Stephen Jay Gould. It weighs over 2 pounds. One essay, entitled "Phyletic size decrease in Hershey Bars," includes a chart "Hershey bars bite the dust: a quantitative assessment." His essay, "How the zebra gets its stripes," is a sequel to a previous essay, "What, if anything, is a zebra?" Scientific principles are illustrated using architectural details, and baseball is his joy.
(must - not - buy - this - book - unless - I - see - it - in - Borders - tonight -)
(So why don't I just check out the library's copy? Oh, please...)
